Graduation

Applied from the graduates of 2012 onwards

Graduation credits, Graduation exams (thesis)

  • Required credits for graduation are set at 130 credits or more (140 credits for the Nursing Department, 120 credits for classes of 2016 and after in Arts and Physical Education Department).
  • Those wishing to obtain a Bachelor's degree must establish knowledge in their major field and must take the comprehensive graduation exam to enhance the outcome of university education.
  • The comprehensive graduation exam grants exam eligibility to those who have completed the specified course and those who are expected to complete, and can be replaced with exams, theses, lab training reports, practical (project design) presentations depending on the department's characteristics.
  • Even if one completes all courses and acquires the necessary credits for graduation, if they do not pass the comprehensive graduation exam, a completion certificate is awarded, with an opportunity for a re-exam.

Graduation and Degree

  • Degrees are awarded twice a year (February and August).
  • Degree award classification by college (department) (related to Article 64, Clause 1 of the school rules)

Graduation Required Credits

  • ① Classes of 2012-2014 (Required Graduation Credits: 130 credits)
    • For General Studies, a combination of Core Studies, Basic Studies, and General Studies must total at least 30 credits.
    • Core studies require a minimum of 8 credits earned across all departments (courses), and satisfy the minimum credits in 4 categories.
    • Basic Studies require at least 12 credits and must meet the course completion criteria for each category. However, students admitted to the evening classes are excluded.
    • General Studies require at least 10 credits.
    • Studies credits are recognized as graduation credits up to 40 credits.
    • For Major courses, at least 15 credits in foundational major and 40 credits in the major are required.
  • ② Class of 2015 (Required Graduation Credits: 130 credits, except Nursing Department 140 credits)
    • For General Studies courses, a combination of Core, Basic, and General Studies must total at least 30 credits.
    • For Core Studies, satisfy the minimum credits in 3 out of 4 categories, and at least 12 credits should be earned.
    • Basic Studies require at least 4 credits from the three mentioned categories and at least 8 credits including the remaining category.
    • General Studies require at least 10 credits.
    • Major subjects are classified into Basic Major, Major, and Elective Major, and the necessary credits for graduation are 15 credits for Basic Major and at least 40 credits for Major.
  • ③ Class of 2016 (Required Graduation Credits: 130 credits, except Nursing Department 140 credits, Arts and Physical Education Department 120 credits)
    • For General Studies courses, a combination of Core, Basic, and General Studies must total at least 40 credits.
    • For Core Studies, 20 credits from 4 categories must be completed, and a minimum required credits must be satisfied from 3 out of the 4 ABCE categories.
    • For Basic Studies, a minimum of 4 credits in the Humanities and Science category are mandatory and 12 or more credits must be completed.
    • General Studies require at least 8 credits.
    • Studies credits are recognized as graduation credits from 40 to 50 credits.
    • For Major subjects, foundational major requires 15 credits, and the major requires 40 or more credits.
  • ④ Classes of 2017-2018 (Required Graduation Credits: 130 credits, except Nursing Department 140 credits, Arts and Physical Education Department 120 credits)
    • For General Studies courses, minimum credits by area are required, and a combination of Core Studies 26 credits, distributed studies 14 credits, and advanced studies 4 credits must total at least 44 credits.
      However, Aviation Operations and Nursing Departments require 40 credits or more without advanced studies.
    • Up to 55 credits in General Studies are recognized towards graduation credits.
    • Major courses are divided into integrated major, foundational major, and major (mandatory, elective), and minimum required credits must be met as per the table below.

  • ⑤ Classes of 2019-2022 (Required Graduation Credits: 130 credits, except Nursing Department 140 credits, Arts and Physical Education Department 120 credits)
    • For general education courses, you must complete the minimum required credits for each field, 20 credits of Core Studies, 16 credits of Distributed Studies, and 4 credits of General Studies. If General Studies are not completed, they should be supplemented with Distributed Studies.
    • General education credits are recognized as graduation credits from 40 to 50 credits.
    • Major courses are divided into Basic Major, Required Major, Elective Major, and Design Thinking. The minimum required credits are as shown in the table below.

  • ⑤ For students of 2023 (Graduation credits: 130 credits, except 136 credits for the Department of Nursing and 120 credits for Humanities and Social Sciences & Arts and Physical Education Departments) ※ Humanities and Social Sciences & Arts and Physical Education Departments include :Department of Counseling and Welfare, Department of Medical Service Management, Department of Police Administration, Department of Military Studies, Department of Aviation Tourism Services, Department of Aviation Security, Department of Sports Health Rehabilitation, and Department of Multimedia.
    • For general education courses, you must complete 16 credits of Basic Education, 14 credits of General Education, and 6 credits of Character Education.
    • General education credits are recognized as graduation credits from 36 to 50 credits.
    • Major courses are divided into Basic Major, Required Major, Elective Major, and Design Thinking. The minimum required credits are as indicated in the table below.

Completion(Applied from the graduates of 2012 onwards)

Completion

  • If you have acquired the necessary credits for graduation but have not met the graduation standards, a completion certificate can be issued.
  • The credits required for yearly completion are as follows:

Early Graduation (Applied from the graduates of 2012 onwards)

Early Graduation

  • Those who complete the graduation credits in 7 semesters excluding summer/winter semesters and have a grade point average of 4.2 or higher for each semester and pass the comprehensive graduation exam can be granted early graduation.
    However, you must apply for early graduation in the 7th semester.

Application Process

  • 7th Semester Schedule (announced each semester separately) → Early Graduation Application → Submit to the Academic Affairs Office

Double Major and Minor (applied from the graduates of 2012 onwards)

Double Major

Definition of Terms

  • The first major refers to the primary major selected by the student within the department or division upon enrollment.
  • A double major (2nd, 3rd major) refers to consecutive majors completed excluding the first major.

Completion Procedure

  • Those who are completing a double major must submit the Double Major Degree Application to the Academic Affairs Office using the specified period at the end of the expected graduation semester.
  • Those who do not submit the Double Major Degree Application cannot be recognized for completing a double major even if they have acquired the specified credits.
  • After completing the first major, those who wish to continue completing the 2nd and 3rd majors beyond the graduation credits must submit the Graduation Postponement Application to the Academic Affairs Office in the semester they complete the graduation credits.

Notes

  • Double major completers must definitely complete the primary major (1st major).
  • The Health and Nursing Department limits the double major depending on the number of students and learning resources.
  • Double major completion within one department is recognized for only two majors.
  • Even if the specified credits for the major degree are acquired, if the grade point average for the entire 1st major and double major is not 2.5 or higher, a double major degree will not be awarded.

Minor (applicable from the graduates of 2012 onwards)

  • Those who wish to complete a minor must necessarily complete 21 credits of major subjects (2nd to 4th-year curriculum) from the minor department (or department).

Graduation Qualification Certification

What is the Graduation Qualification Certification System?

  • It refers to the system where you can graduate only when you meet the minimum core competency index of this university as a graduation qualification requirement.
  • Achieving 360 points or more in both academic and non-academic indices fulfills the graduation qualification certification.
